JAMES “JIM” WESLEY SOMMERS
James “Jim” Wesley Sommers, age 81, of Walker, MN, passed away on Friday, March 2, 2018.
Jim was born on September 11, 1936 in North Redwood, MN to Wesley and Glorene (Manthei) Sommers. He was united in marriage to Carol Fenske on June 22, 1957. They made their home in Gaylord, MN with their four children: Paul, Gary, Jay and Susan. Jim owned and operated Sommers Grain and Feed for many years. After retirement they moved to the Walker area.
Jim was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Walker. He was also active in Rotary, the Jaycees, and was a lifelong member of the Sibley Masonic Lodge, Zuhrah Shrine. Jim enjoyed watching all sports and helped with high school athletics in Gaylord. He also a hunting and fishing enthusiast.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Paul, Gary (Lois), Jay (Kathy) and Susan (Robert) Miles; grandchildren: Kyle, Stuart, Morgan, Hailey, Joe and Michael; and great-grandchildren: Oakley and Madison.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Carol, and his sister, Nancy Bruns.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Hope Lutheran Church in Walker with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
