Galen Frank Jerry, 79, of Bemidji, MN passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2019.
Galen was born July 10, 1939 in Deer River, MN, where he was raised and graduated from high school. He married Karon (Lindgren) Stejskal. In 1957, he worked at the Red Owl in Grand Rapids & Deer River. In 1975, Galen and his family moved to Bemidji, MN to start Jerry’s Farmers Market.
He is survived by his children, Timothy Jerry, Colorado and Tammy Jerry, Plymouth; step-children, Rocco Melhus, Terri Melhus, both of Bemidji; grandson, Jonathan Melhus, Bemidji; mother-in-law, Jeanette (Jay) Powell, Bemidji; sister, Cathy Hanson (Donald), Cohasset, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Jerry; parents, Frank and Dorothy Jerry; father-in-law, Thomas Powell; sisters, Audry (Andrew) Salmonson, Margaret (Carlos) Erickson, Dorothy (Howard) Nixon, Patricia (Duane) Schjenken.
There will be a gathering of friends and family at 10:00 AM Friday, May 31, 2019 at the Malvik Lutheran Church in Laporte, MN, followed by an 11:00 service. There will be a private family burial at the Guthrie Cemetery. Arrangements are being provided by Dennis Funeral Home/Midwest Cremation Association (www.dennisfuneralhome).
