Margaret "Muggs" May TrimbleOctober 31, 1932 ~ May 5, 2017 (age 84)
Margaret May “Muggs” Trimble, 84, of Walker, MN, passed away Friday, May 5, 2017, at Majestic Pines Senior Living Center, in Grand Rapids, MN, where she had received excellent care from a passionate and caring staff.
Margaret was born October 31, 1932, to Paul and Josephine (Hryniewiecki) Meyers in Minneapolis, MN. She grew up in Walker and graduated from Walker High School. On September 26, 1952, she was married to Gerald “Gary” Trimble and they made their home in Walker. In 1971, Gerald and Margaret purchased the DX Service Station and Oil Company, where she worked until 1977. In 1977-1978, she was employed by the U.S. Forestry; and from 1978 until her retirement in 1988, she worked for Cass County Social Services.
As most people who live in northern Minnesota, Muggs loved the beauty of the outdoors. She enjoyed being on the lake and sailing with her family. She also had a passion for flowers and was well known for her beautiful gardens.
Muggs was an avid volunteer in the Walker community; she was always there to help out for a worthy cause and served on many committees for the betterment of the town. She served on the City of Walker Planning Commission for 11 years, the Tianna Country Club Board of Directors for 11 years, the Leech Lake Regatta Board of Governors for 8 years, the Leech Lake Sled Dog Races committee for 3 years, and volunteered at the Governor’s Fishing Openers. She was a Past Noble Grand of Rebekah Lodge. While the Shingobee Winter Playground was still active, she served as the secretary for 5 years; she was vice chairwoman of Cass County GOP for 2 years, was Leech Lake Yacht Club secretary for 3 years, and was also a member of the Walker Area Partners. She was very proud to be named as one of the Grand Marshals for the Walker July 4th parade in 2001. Muggs applied her artistic talent to various community projects and participated in a multitude of community events.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Gerald; two sons, Gary (Peggy) of Walker, and Tony of Walker; two daughters, Nancy (Erich) Ramp of Walker, and Heidi Clemence of Minneapolis; one daughter-in-law, Sherry (Mark) Trimble of Annandale, MN; 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; one brother, William (Ellen) Meyers of Sparks, NV; and one sister, Marjorie (Jerry) White of Sparks, NV.
Preceding Margaret in death were her parents; one sister, Julia; and one son, Mark.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in Walker. Rev. Robert Dennis will officiate and inurnment will be held at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery.
