James Horace PerkinsOctober 7, 1948 ~ September 2, 2017 (age 68)
James Horace Perkins, 68, of Laporte, MN passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017 at his home. His daughter recounts “He was goofing around talking goofy like he does with Mom. She always records these times for memoires. While she was getting the camera, he went quiet. She looked over and he was gone – peacefully at home where he wanted to be.”
James was born October 7, 1948 to Horace and Charlotte (Rustuvold) Perkins in Minneapolis, MN. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army. He married Linda Kinder and together, they raised two children in the Laporte community. His daughter recalls “My dad taught me to be tough, strong and never let anyone hurt you or treat you bad. Hold my head high and be proud. He taught me to love music – all kinds. He taught me how to survive without anything and anyone. We both had strong personalities. We fought and knew we still loved each other. I was always his #1 tough little girl. I know he was proud of who I am and what I have done. I love you Daddy. Rest in peace.”
James is survived by his wife, Linda; son, James J. Perkins; daughter, Kathern Stillwell; grandchildren, Joseph Perkins, Sernety Perkins, Arianna Perkins, Noah Perkins, Trevor Perkins, Nathanial Perkins, Paul Stillwell and Haden Wenzel; and sister, Susan Hagen.
