Beth Mary (Bathen) Conklin, 95, of Murfreesboro, TN, and formerly of Walker, MN, died Sunday, April 9, 2017 in Murfreesboro.

Mary was born July 19, 1921 in Buckingham Township, Blackhawk County, Iowa, to Hazel (Mitchell) and William Ernest Bathen.  Mary spent most of her childhood and early adult years in various Iowa locations finally settling in Brandon, IA.

On December 23, 1948, she married Harry Conklin, Jr., and became a mother to his daughter, Billie May.  They were blessed with four more children, Buster Harry, Fred, Beth, and Baleen.

Mary and Harry enjoyed playing cards with friends, and in her later years, Mary loved playing Mexican train.  She also spent time reading, playing Bunco, and making special crocheted potholders.

Mary lived in rural Walker, MN from 1949 to 1999 on Onigum Road.  She then lived with her surviving four children on a rotation until travelling from place to place became more difficult.  Her final years were spent in Murfreesboro, TN in the loving care of her daughter, Beth and son-in-law, Matthew.

Mary was preceded in death by her grandparents; parents, Hazel and William Bathen; husband, Harry; son, Fred; daughter, Baleen; grandson, Michael Conklin; brother, Otto Bathen; sisters-in-law, Ruth Bathen, and Ruth Conklin Dunnigan.

She is survived by her children, Billie May (Jim) Markus, Oro Valley, AZ, Buster Harry (Sandy) Conklin, Oak Harbor, WA, Beth (Matthew) Bauer, Murfreesboro, TN; granddaughters, Michelle (Steve) Lambright, Huntington Beach, CA, Donna Schmidt and Christina Conklin, Oak Harbor, WA, Stephanie (Scott) Daniel, Knoxville, TN, Fawn (Joshua) Eisenbarth, Laporte, MN, Faith (Kevin) Winkler, Duluth, MN; grandsons, John (Samantha) Markus, Prosser, WA, Jerry (Gillian) Bauer, Springfield, IL, Fred (Lisa) Thompson, Tampa, FL; and by 11 great-granddaughters; 11 great-grandsons; 3 nieces, 2 nephews, and their families in Iowa.

Mary enjoyed the many friends she made in Minnesota, Washington, Arizona and Tennessee.  Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Hope Lutheran Church in Walker, MN.  Family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.  Funeral arrangements are being provided by Dennis Funeral Home of Walker (www.dennisfuneralhome.com).
