Paul B. Sifford, 84, of Longville, Minnesota passed away Saturday, June 9, 2012 at his home. Paul was born November 12, 1927 in Des Moines, Iowa to Bruce and Hazel (Meline) Sifford. He grew up in Minneapolis and at the age of seventeen enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Following his military service he attended Gustavus Adolphus and graduated with an education degree in 1951. While a student there he met Joan Gustafson and they were married soon after his graduation in 1951. Paul and Joan lived in Bloomington MN where together they raised their four daughters. Paul taught science in Richfield, Minnesota. They loved spending their summers together in the Longville area. Following retirement they made Longville their home and spent winters in Florida. Paul enjoyed swimming, sailing, traveling and attending Elderhostels. Some of his favorite times were at their cabin with his children and grandchildren. He will always be remembered for his laughter and sense of humor. Paul is survived by his wife of sixty years, Joan, children; Linda (Tom), Lorna (Jim), LuAnn (Rick), Jola (Glen), and eight grandchildren; Casey, Robin, Dana, Michaela, Christopher, Alanna, Ryan, and Marisa. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Roger and Bruce. Private family services will be held.
