Charles Dudley Bubar, Jr. (Butch)

U.S. Veteran

Charles Dudley Bubar, Jr. (“Butch”),70, of Cass Lake, Minnesota passed away Friday, May 18, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Butch was born May 12, 1942 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Charles and Ruth (Sandall) Bubar, Sr. He graduated from Edison High School and then joined the Army National Guard. In 1961 he moved to Cass Lake and while attending BSU met Arlene Riggles. They were married in 1964 and continued to live and raise their three daughters in Cass Lake. For thirty five years he was the owner-operator of Bubar Trucking and was in charge of hauling timber products throughout northern Minnesota. He was a member of the Minnesota Timber Producers Association, winning several competitions and earning many safety awards in the trucking division. Through the years he enjoyed many summers at the family cabin on West Pike Bay, and winters in Florida. He also liked to spend time snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, golfing, playing shuffleboard and motorhome travel. Most valuable was time spent with friends and family, especially watching his daughters and grandchildren participate in their sports activities. He was an honorable, incredibly hard working man with an unforgettable presence and sense of humor. His friendships to many will be deeply missed. Most importantly, he will be remembered as a man who was a devoted husband, dad, and grandpa to the very core of his being. Butch is survived by his loving wife of forty eight years, Arlene, daughters; Gina (Kevin) Olson of Bemidji, Jodi Schroeder of Bemidji, Julie (Mark) Agustin of Tampa, FL, sister Phyllis Hupp of Columbia Heights, MN, six grandchildren; Cale, Carlie, Caitlyn, Hanna, Heather, Hunter, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles D. Bubar, Sr. and Ruth (Sandall) Bubar, two nieces and two nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cass Lake with Father Kuriakose Nediakala and Father Paul Larson officiating. A gathering for family and friends will begin at 10:00 A.M. and run until time of service. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
