Doris Elvera Waldum, 92, of Walker, Minnesota passed away Monday, April 9, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Walker. Doris was born October 10, 1919 in Akeley, Minnesota to Gust and Bessie Axelson. She attended school there through graduation. In 1941 she married Mervin Waldum and lived in Park Rapids until his enlistment in the Navy. Following this, they moved to California where he was stationed. Doris lived in California until 1987 when her husband passed away. She then moved back to Minnesota to be near family. In her early years she learned to play an accordion and often played for barn dances in the Akeley area. She worked in General Merchandise Stores and a candy shop. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mervin, one brother, Willis (Marie) Axelson, one sister, Nina (Del) Stoker, and is survived by a nephew, Larry (Margie) Axelson, a niece Pat (Don) Geiger , grandnieces and nephews, and longtime friend Sue Boege.
